Germania Flug AG, based in Glattbrugg, is the 290th and therefore the newest member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The certificate attesting to this was presented to Urs A. Pelizzoni, Member of the Board of Directors of Germania Flug AG, at Zurich Airport on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

The global umbrella association of carriers includes leading passenger and cargo airlines from a total of 125 countries, representing around 82 percent of global air traffic.

In addition to membership, IATA also awards the globally recognized IOSA certification for the highest safety standards, which Germania Flug AG had already received in March 2018. Every IATA airline must hold the IOSA certification to remain a member of the association.

Joining IATA is another milestone in the history of Germania Flug AG. Among other things, it allows for the possibility of entering into collaborations with numerous international airlines.

Such collaborations would include, for example, codeshare agreements or interline agreements as well as discounted access to other IATA services and products. Germania Flug AG will also benefit from easier access to training programs for specialist employees and managers.
