Fly Montserrat is expected to provide the Nevisian public with an indispensable opportunity to visit Antigua whenever they desire through the airlines new schedule to travel between the islands on a daily basis.

CEO of Fly Montserrat, Nigel Harris explained that on Monday 4th June 2012, Fly Montserrat will have its first flight from Nevis to Antigua, he clarified that the airline was first established in 1983 in England and has serviced the people of Montserrat in the mid 1980’s and ended in 1996 after the volcanic eruption. The airline retreated to England for several years but returned nearly four years ago and is once again servicing the island. Added to flying daily between Montserrat and Antigua the airline is now ready to branch out further and offer their services to the locals in the beautiful island of Nevis.

The four Islander Air craft holds a maximum of nine persons and allows one 50lb bag along with one carry-on bag. Fly Montserrat is expected to charter flights in between the two islands and serve as connecting flights for persons who are attempting to make direct flight into Nevis. "Essentially we do whatever is necessary for the community, we see ourselves as part of the service" explained Harris "We would do whatever the community wants us to do, if there is anything to be carried we carry all sorts of obscure things". Harris outlined that with this new connection between Antigua and Nevis it provides a connection between intercontinental flights to arrive on Nevis on the same day and provides the island with revenue from visiting persons and the airline on a whole. Harris explained that with Fly Montserrat flying between Nevis and Antigua the Nevis Port Authority will derive a number of benefits having acquired AVGAS fuel to sell to the airline which allows them to purchase fuel from Nevis. "This means spending money on Nevis and we are always happy to do that" stated Harris. He further stated that he is very pleased and has high hopes for the airlines venture into daily trips between Nevis and Antigua.

Tourism Advisor, Alistair Yearwood explained that one of the challenges faced in Nevis and the Caribbean on a whole is the airlift and direct flights into the island. "One of the challenges Nevis faces on a daily basis is airlifting and has been for some time" explained Yearwood "What this does from a tourism standpoint is that it opens Nevis up to both the region and to the world". Yearwood clarified that this direct flight to Nevis from Antigua and vice versa can only bring positive outcomes to the Nevisian community.

Harris explained that although the fixed fares have not yet been set the generalized prices would be similar to the prices of LIAT which range from EC$100 to $800. Harris also clarified that the airline will continue flying between Nevis and Antigua but are looking towards expanding by flying to other Caribbean islands.
