New Dominican Tourism Chief Vows to Follow in Predecessor’s Footsteps

Thursday, 04/09/2008

Upon arriving in the post as the new Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia said he’s “not going to work over the ashes of others, and instead on the basis of their effort” and that he’s obliged to surpass his predecessor Felix Jimenez’s work even in only by half a point.

He said he’s not replacing just any official, and for that reason will continue with the work and projects Jimenez carried out. He said he’ll place great effort in his function, convinced of the weight tourism bears on the economy.

In an atmosphere of camaraderie in the entity, outgoing Tourism minister Felix Jimenez spoke of the accomplishments during his tenure and said he’s confident of the work his successor is going to materialize.

Dear Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia. Good for you, that coming in you feel you have to make a name for yourself buy 'uping' the work that the Hon. Jimenez tried to accomplish during his term. Usually, those coming in new, wish to make a name for themself, when the ship is going on a straight and narrow path, just keep it flowing and give 'prise' to those that are assisting you. By the way, try to keep close with the CTO Chapters around the world, they are ready to promote, serve and share what the Dominican Republic has to offer. Continue to offer Fam Trips to CTO Chapters, build goodwill and strength through these chapters and you will see your program, grow and grow. Just watch Jamaica, as I just returned from a 3 day Fam Trip. They reach out to the agents. The very best to everything to you and say "Hello" to Luis and Reyson when you see tham.
