Divi Resorts announced an opportunity for guests at the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort in Bonaire to experience coral spawning, one of the most spectacular biological phenomena on Earth. A rarely seen but never forgotten event for most divers, coral spawning occurs only two to three times a year.
The best “spawning dives” take place four to eight nights after a full moon. Divi Flamingo Beach Resort has thus organized travel and dive packages around the prime periods for viewing the coral’s reproduction: Aug. 9 to 16, Sept. 6 to 13 and Oct. 6 to 13.
The package includes extensive dives during visitors’ stays, along with lectures by Denise and Ruud Janssen, expert divers and experienced tour guides for coral spawning. The husband and wife team are with Divi Dive Bonaire, the Flamingo Beach Resort’s onsite five-star dive facility.
The package, which is from $950 per person, includes seven nights accommodation at Divi Flamingo; daily breakfast buffets; daily two-tank boat dives; unlimited shore diving; one free night boat dive during spawning; one night dive on Calabas reef with certified instructors; pre-dive lectures by the Janssens; and a CD or DVD of spawning footage shot during the dives.
