The Discover Dominica Authority and the Waitukubuli National Trail Project (WNTP) officially opened for the first two segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail (WNT) at the Summer Adventure and Hike Event, that was scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 29. To celebrate the bicentennial of Mexico’s independence from Spain and the centennial of the Mexican Revolution, Mexico has created eight commemorative tourism routes that pass through 100 different destinations and 17 states, highlighting the historical settings and emblematic monuments of the country. The routes can be covered between one week and 10 days and because of their circular paths, travelers can start from any point on the circuit. Less than a month for the beginning of the official cruise season 2010/11, prospects for Punta Arenas in the extreme south of Chile are not at all encouraging with an anticipated activity contraction of 33 percent over last year, according to the Empresa Portuaria Austral, EPA, which manages local port activities. The campaign is called “O Brasil te chama, celebre a vida aqui” (Brazil calls you, celebrate life here). During the launching ceremony of the campaign, two short films directed by Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles were shown, reports China’s Xinhua news agency. by Paul Kiernan Mexico’s Tourism Ministry launched an advertising campaign this week as part of a roughly 700-million-peso ($55 million) investment aimed at broadening U.S. and Canadian tourists’ knowledge of the country’s destinations. Throughout the past couple months the Turks and Caicos Hotel & Tourism Association (TCHTA) has been actively promoting the Turks and Caicos Islands. The organizers of Costa Rica’s Expo Manuel Antonio (ExpoMa) are launching a Costa Rica Travel Specialist certification (CRTS) program at the conference and trade show, scheduled for Sept. 24 to 27, 2010, in Quepos, Costa Rica.
