Venezuela´s Tourism Ministry will organize an international travel fair in October in Caracas, Venezuelan Tourism Deputy Minister Yaumata Koteich said in Havana. The tradeshow is part of an integration strategy that comprises a number of multi-destination offers with Cuba.

Within the framework of Cuba´s 25th International Tourism Fair, a delegation of 31 Venezuelan entrepreneurs linked to the travel industry, hotels, tour agencies and the National Tourism Institute held talks with their Cuban counterparts to assess future projects in the realm of travel integration.

Spanish company Hotels C has been betting on Cuba since it started investing in the country some 12 years ago, according to one member of this firm´s board, Pedro Martin.

One of the attendees to the 25th edition of the International Tourism Fair in Cuba, Mr. Martin explained that since June 2003 the firm has been operating in Cuba with the Presidente Hotel, in the nation´s capital, and Arenas Doradas and Playa Caleta in Varadero.

The birth of nautical firm Marlin S.A., embracing nine other companies across the island nation, will help reorganize nautical recreation in Cuba, officials from that enterprise explained during Cuba´s International Tourism Fair held last week.

Eugenio Ribeira, Marlin´s marketing director, made the official announcement together with Naval Engineer Luis Felipe Garcia, the company´s president and CEO.

Gran Caribe was by far one of the stars at the recently concluded International Tourism Fair in Havana. The company cut major deals with a group of world-class companies, including German tour operator TUI.

With this Hanover-based firm, Europe´s largest tour operator, Gran Caribe has clinched major sales for the upcoming wintertime travel season, including eight sunbather-packed charter flights to Varadero. Some of the main deals were made with TUI´s offices in Hungary, Slovenia, Belgium and Netherlands.

The 25th edition of Cuba’s International Tourism Fair got cracking Monday on a love patch trapped between the colonial fortresses of El Morro and La Cabana that overlooks the Havana Bay.

The event is the island nation’s premier travel tradeshow and was this time around dedicated to the city of Havana, home to roughly 40 to 45 percent of the country’s total tourist arrivals, and to Santiago de Cuba, the island’s second-largest burg.

French Tourism Minister Leon Bertrand said in Havana that his country´s designation as guest nation at Cuba´s International Tourism Fair is a special token of a longstanding friendship between the two nations. Mr. Leon added that French President was visibly touched by the designation and asked him to be at the Havana tradeshow.

Minister Leon is the second senior official from the European Union to visit Cuba since the bloc called off political sanctions on the island nation. Spanish Minister of Development, Magdalena Alvarez, had visited Cuba last April.

Cuban hotel group Gaviota S.A. announced at the 25th International Tourism Fair of Cuba the increase of its inventory next year to 10,176 rooms for international tourists, according to a bulletin distributed here at the 25th International Tourism Fair, today in its third day.

The document bears the signature of Gaviota President, Jose Pantin, who explains that at the end of 2004 his company operated 8,826 rooms throughout the island and by next year they will exceed the 10,000 mark.
