Cruise West Drops Fuel Surcharge, Extends Alaska Early Booking Promotion

Small-ship exploration supplier Cruise West is following the precedent set by the big three cruise lines, and others such as MSC Cruises, by waiving its fuel surcharge on all 2009 cruise itineraries for guests who pay in full by January 30.

 

Crystal Cruises Removes Fuel Surcharges for 2009

The recent drop in crude oil pricing means savings for clients. As a result of the continuing drop in oil prices, effective immediately, Crystal Cruises is eliminating its fuel surcharge for 2009 cruises.

 

Royal Caribbean Expands “Oasis of the Seas” Inaugural Season

Vacationers will now be able to experience the world’s most highly-anticipated cruise ship even sooner. Royal Caribbean International today announced two additional sailings to Oasis of the Seas’ inaugural season: a seven-night inaugural Eastern Caribbean itinerary, sailing on December 5, 2009; and a special four-night voyage –departing December 1, 2009- to celebrate the launch of an all-new Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach paradise in Haiti.

 

New Eurodam Caters to Older Market

Spectacular, glitzy and mega are words that will probably never be used when describing the Eurodam, Holland America’s newest ship. The Eurodam is the first of a new “signature” class of ships and is the largest in the fleet by a few tons.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises announced details of the 2010 World Cruise –the line’s 10th- on the 700-guest Seven Seas Voyager. “This is truly the best way to see the world -- from the luxury of a medium-sized ship sailing in the company of just hundreds of fellow world travelers,” said Mark Conroy, president of RSSC.

 

Colombia Promotes Tourism, Joins the Cruise Industry

The Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias became this week an intermediate boarding port for Royal Caribbean International Southern Caribbean cruise circuit which was marked with the arrival of “Enchantment of the Seas”.

 

Disney Ends Fuel Surcharges

Disney Cruise Line has joined the majority of cruise lines in now eliminating fuel surcharges for all new bookings. The line cited decreasing fuel prices as the reason for the switch.

 

Celebrity Underscores Details of Bermuda Return

During preview cruises this month on its new Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Cruises revealed plans to resume cruises to Bermuda in 2010. Celebrity Cruises’ most recent season in Bermuda ended in October 2006, with the line’s former Celebrity Zenith. The plans to return to Bermuda are a response to popular demand.

 

Windstar Sets Family Offer on Summer Europe Sailings

Windstar Cruises is offering family rates on summer European sailings aboard Wind Surf. Families who book one full-fare stateroom on sailings departing June 7 through Aug. 30 will receive a second stateroom for family members on the same sailing at 50 percent off per person.

Peter Yesawich, president and CEO of Ypartnership, expects more consumers to turn to travel agents when planning their trips in 2009. Meanwhile, research conducted by Ypartnership states that the travel intentions of Americans remain strong as 71 percent of active travel households are planning at least one overnight trip during the next six months –the same amount as one year ago.
