New Students Join Tourism Cadet Corps in Antigua

A group of 35 young people have now been enlisted into the latest installment of the Tourism Cadet Corps program. The initiative was reconvened earlier this week, with a commencement ceremony that saw the introduction of 35 newly recruited cadets to the 2007-2008 program.

New Cunard Academy Web Course Homes in on Queen Victoria

Cunard Line created an online course for travel agents to learn more about its upcoming ship, the Queen Victoria, through its Cunard Academy online sales training Web site, Cunard said. The course, at www.onesourcecruises.com, featured a detailed overview of the new ship which was set to debut in December, and then a short quiz.

 
Delta Hotels Enhances Learning through Online Training

In partnership with the Canadian Tourism Human Resources Council (CTHRC), Delta Hotels introduced a new on-line training course to colleagues, cementing its use of technology in virtual classrooms across the country to deliver progressive and cost-effective training.

The Positive Corrective Action course is a component of the company´s Managing Performance and Behavior module, a course deployed at its hotels and part of Delta´s Leadership Training Certification Program.

Interval International, a vacation exchange company, and resorts affiliated with its exchange network, announced their continued financial support of Caribbean tourism education with a $20,000 donation to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Education Foundation.

The check was presented by David Callaghan, vice president resort sales and service, Interval International, to Pamela C. Richards, CTO Chairman and Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Jacqueline Johnson, CTC, chairman of the CTO Foundation, as part of Caribbean Week in New York City.

Peter Yesawich, president and CEO of Ypartnership, expects more consumers to turn to travel agents when planning their trips in 2009. Meanwhile, research conducted by Ypartnership states that the travel intentions of Americans remain strong as 71 percent of active travel households are planning at least one overnight trip during the next six months –the same amount as one year ago.
